Recess Podcast, commentary on education

Mr. Milo:

I just read your article in Education Week, all I can say is AMAZING!

I am a non-traditional teacher, meaning I went to college in my thirties after 10 years in the US Army, I went through the Ohio Troops to Teachers program and I now teach at Metro Early College Middle School.

I just had a discussion with my principal and fellow SS Teachers about how to squeeze 750 BC -1600 AD into a school year and by the way I only have them M-W-F for social studies.

I love your concept and I too hated hearing in college "You are a History major, I hated history!"

So far my kids tell me they love social studies and the way I tell it as a story and all the side information I give them that is not in textbooks (I must being doing something right). After reading your article I feel better about how I am instructing my kids, thank you again for writing it!
